Aesthetic and dental clinics in Dubai: cutting the cost of an enquiry
Aesthetic and dental practices in Dubai selling treatments to individuals, where a booking is worth a few hundred to a few thousand dirhams and the front desk has limited time to work through enquiries.
- Client
- Aesthetic and dental clinics in Dubai, not named
- Period
- About 3 to 6 months per clinic
- My role
- Owned the paid side for each clinic: offers and creative agreed with the owners, campaigns built and run, tracking and retargeting installed, the WhatsApp handover set up, and monthly reporting.
- Platforms
- Meta AdsInstagramWhatsApp Business
Where these clinics started
Each of these practices was already advertising. What none of them had was a reason to believe the spend was working. The campaigns produced enquiries, the enquiries were passed around the front desk, and the ones that went nowhere left no trace, because nothing recorded where an enquiry had come from or what had happened to it.
Why the plan looks narrow
The obvious move in a market like Dubai is to be everywhere. For clinic treatments it is the wrong move. Click prices on competitive treatment keywords are high enough that a booking has to be worth a serious amount before search pays for itself, and most clinic bookings are not.
So the spend stayed on Meta, where a clear offer in front of the right audience can carry the cost. Creative and the offer were settled with the owner in person. That mattered more than the targeting: a clinic that is running a treatment it wants more of, at a price it can defend, is easier to advertise than a clinic running a generic discount.
What I set up
- Campaigns built around one treatment at a time, so a result could be attributed to something.
- Offers and creative agreed with the owner before any spend.
- Enquiries routed into WhatsApp rather than a form, because a conversation converts and a form does not.
- Pixel, conversion tracking and retargeting installed across the accounts.
- A named person and a reply expectation on the WhatsApp side.
- Reporting to the owner each month on cost per enquiry, not on impressions.
Where it ended
Each clinic was handed its ad account back at the end of the engagement. Figures here come from the reporting produced while the work was running, which is why they are given as ranges and labelled as approximate. The clinics are not named: I have no approval to publish their practice names, so I have not used them.
If you run a clinic and want the specific numbers for a comparable treatment, ask on a call and I will tell you what I remember and what I would need to check.
Outcomes
Results and attribution
- Cost per enquiry
- About AED 8 to 12Source: The engagement's own campaign reporting and the clinic owners' figures at the time; approximate, and the ad accounts were handed back at the end.
Attribution
Cost per enquiry is the clinic's number. My work was the offer and creative direction, the campaign build, the tracking and the WhatsApp handover. What happened to an enquiry after it arrived was the front desk's, and whether an enquiry turned into a booking is not something I measured, so no booking or revenue figure appears here.
Methodology & definitions
Cost per enquiry is total ad spend divided by the WhatsApp conversations started over the engagement. The figures are approximate: they come from the reports produced at the time, and the ad accounts were handed back at the end of each engagement, so they cannot be re-pulled from source. Treatment prices differ enough between clinics that a single cost figure would be misleading, which is why a range is given.
Hindsight
What I'd do differently
- WhatsApp only works if someone answers it. On the first clinic the front desk checked the inbox when it remembered to. Naming a person and a reply time did more for the numbers than any change to the creative.
- The offer should have been written down with the owner before anything was built. Two rounds of creative went on a treatment the clinic had no capacity to deliver that month.
